PRCA Sole Practitioners’ Network launched November 2021

  • When a comment turns into a conversation that makes something happen

On Nov 11th 2021, the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) launched a new supportive platform for PR and communications sole practitioners.

This was a direct result of a conversation between me and fellow sole practitioner Louise Third MBE. I had remarked how sad it was that there wasn’t a network where sole practitioners could go and feel free to ask questions and seek advice about campaigns, client relations, maybe even share contacts. We can’t all know everything. Louise agreed, saying “I realised the need for a freelancer network when I had to put together a creative campaign very quickly this summer. Alone with my thoughts, I would have valued the chance to pressure-test and hone my ideas with others.”

We suggested this to the PRCA, who agreed with us and, following several meetings, have set up this platform which launched Wednesday 10th November.

Chaired by myself and Louise, we intend to provide sole practitioners with a confidential, safe place to ask for help, receive instant feedback, share experiences, and pressure-test PR campaigns. Available to PRCA members only, the network will operate on the values of confidentiality, trust, integrity, support, respect, and honesty. PR sole practitioners can join the Guild group here. All members will have to sign an NDA, to protect both themselves and other group members.

I can’t wait to see what types of conversations and collaborations this may bring so that we can all grow and thrive.
